Snake Plant 'Black Gold' – Nearly Indestructible Low-Light Plant

If you've killed every plant you've owned, start here. 'Black Gold' grows tall, sword-shaped leaves in deep green edged with golden yellow. It stores water in its leaves and shrugs off neglect.

Why plant moms love it

• Nearly indestructible: drought tolerant and happy to be ignored.
• Light: anything from low light to bright indirect light.
• Water: only when the soil is completely dry, often every 2–3 weeks.
• Style: its upright, architectural shape suits modern spaces, bedrooms and offices.
• Easy to share: propagates from leaf cuttings.
